About .ws Domains

Global Domains International is the sponsor and KeySystems is our backend provider for the country-code top-level domain name (ccTLD) .ws extensions that represents Western Samoa.

Who can register .ws domains?

Anyone can register .ws domain names.

Registration restrictions

  • Must use: 4 - 63 Characters
  • Can use: Letters: a-z, Numbers: 0-9, Hyphens (except in the 1st or last characters of the domain name)
  • Cannot use: Special Characters (e.g., & and #)
  • IDNs: Supported

Features

  • Registration length: 1-10 years
  • Renewal length: 1-10 years
    • Your .me domain renews on its expiration date. If auto-renew is turned on, we'll attempt renewal on its expiration date. If the first renewal attempt fails, we'll continue attempting auto-renewal multiple times until the 12th day after the domain's expiration date.
    • If we cannot auto-renew the domain and you do not manually renew it by the 12th day after the expiration date, it must be redeemed with any applicable fees.
  • Backorders: Not supported
  • Transfers to GoDaddy: Supported
    • To successfully transfer a .ws domain name to us, your current registrar must support .ws transfers out.
    • We do not support the transfer in of .ws emoji domains.
  • Transfers away from GoDaddy: Supported
    • Transfer Lock: Supported
    • To transfer away from us, your new registrar must explicitly support .ws transfers in.
  • Transfers to another GoDaddy account: Supported
  • Domain Privacy: Supported
  • Domain Protection: Not supported
  • CashParking: Supported
  • Contact Updates: Supported

Nameserver requirements

  • Must use: 2-13 authoritive nameservers
  • Can use: IPv4, IPv6
  • Can not use: DNSSEC
